Custom Swimming Pools: Modern Geometric Art In Cave Creek
Our Pool Design Ideas series was created to help spark ideas of what might be a good fit for you in your backyard. When you’re starting the process of building custom swimming pools, there are numerous decisions to make. A great place to get started is with the pool design and design elements. Whether it’s a freeform or geometric design, with modern, tuscan, or retro design elements; it’s really about the look that fits your home.
At California Pools & Landscape, we’ve been creating custom pools in the valley of the sun for more than 36 years. We’ve designed thousands of modern geometric pools of all shapes and sizes, to meet the desires of every client.
About This Cave Creek Home
These Cave Creek customers were looking for a modern geometric pool with a long and sleek design. Creating a focal point at the end of the pool was also desired to change the view from the wash that sits behind the backyard. The slope of the yard drops away from the home which created a challenge for the design team and played into the design.
This backyard design is a work of art, set apart by the combination of the natural art feature at the end of the pool and the geometric symmetry that carries throughout the environment. To match the modern look and feel of the home, the backyard incorporates a geometric design with the pool, stacked stone, turf and design features. The zero edge step down pool and spa are in a stunning natural environment, surrounded by areas for relaxation and entertainment.
A Zero Edge Geometric Pool & Spa
The zero edge pool and attached spa defines this modern pool design, running 41 feet from the edge of the spa to the end of the pool. They naturally lead your eye to the focal point of the backyard oasis, a 23-foot wide natural art design, featuring several golden barrel cactus.
The pools’ Arctic Sea Glass Pebble interior helps create a wonderful reflection and flows into the Vision Moka waterline tile that creates the zero edge. The pool offers a large area for seating with a baja shelf that runs the width of the pool.
The zero edge spa offers some special design features, with three water jets and three travertine step pads that match the surrounding decking. The spa is 14 feet wide with 90 square feet of room inside for relaxation.
The natural art feature at the end of the pool holds 24 Golden Barrel cactus and is covered with 94 square feet of Iron Peak GM stacked stone. This design element pops at the end of the pool’s waterline and blocks the view of the wash outside of the yard. Our design team tied the modern design elements of the yard along with the natural desert surroundings for a unique and memorable backyard in Cave Creek.
Incorporating Design Elements in Custom Swimming Pools
The design of the yard is tied together with travertine, artificial turf and natural landscaping. The gorgeous Boulevard Light Tumbled travertine starts at the edge of the home and creates several surface areas around the pool for recreation or relaxation. The pool’s coping is also made up of Boulevard Light Tumbled travertine edge pieces. Over 900 square feet of Cal Select Artificial turf offers a beautiful color contrast to the Express Brown granite rock and compliments the geometric design. The combination of travertine turf in the step-down design offers large maintenance-free areas for enjoyment.
The landscaping adds an element of serenity and privacy to this natural paradise. The perimeter fence of the backyard is lined with 23 hopseed bushes which provide a color pop and added privacy. There are three Desert Museum Palo Verde trees in the backyard as well as numerous shrubs, groundcover plants and accent plants that add to the natural feel of the desert environment.
