Pool Design Ideas: Modern Geometric Pool Design In Cave Creek

Our Pool Design Ideas series was created to help spark ideas of what might be a good fit for you in your backyard. When you’re starting the process of building a pool, there are numerous decisions to make. A great place to get started is with the pool design and design elements.
Whether it’s a freeform or geometric design, with modern, tuscan, or retro design elements; it’s really about the look that fits your home.

At California Pools & Landscape, we’ve been creating custom pools in the valley of the sun for more than 35 years. We’ve designed thousands of modern geometric pools of all shapes and sizes, to meet the desires of every client.

About This Cave Creek Home

These Cave Creek customers were looking for a modern geometric pool designed with multiple usable spaces in the backyard. The original slope of the yard dropped significantly, so creating activity areas for their children was a priority. Incorporating some shade and privacy was also important for the family.

This backyard design is set apart by the combination of stacked stone and travertine that flows naturally out of the home. To match the modern look and feel of the home, the backyard incorporates a vibrant stacked stone that serves as a backdrop for the pool. It carries throughout the design, surrounding part of the spa, and the bbq area. In addition, this client added water features, shade structures, and extensive landscaping in order to create different areas for recreation, entertaining and relaxation.

A Unique Geometric Pool & Spa Design

The pool is unquestionably the focal point of the backyard oasis, encompassed by a 27-foot long water feature wall, with three scuppers beautifully covered with Artic River stacked stone.

The pools’ Arctic Sea Glass Pebble interior sparkles and flows into the Quarry Ridge waterline tile. The pool also offers areas for seating with an 11-foot baja shelf that transitions into a raised bench along the pools’ wall that is over seven feet long.

The spa offers some special design features, tying in design elements from both the pool and water features. The waterline tile continues up the front side of the spa that faces the home, before giving way to the Boulevard Lite travertine tile that encompasses the top of the sit and spin spa. The water spillways into the pool have a special design accent with a 1”x1” London glass tile. The perimeter wall of the spa that faces the seating areas on the deck adds another design pop with the matching Arctic River stacked stone.

Incorporating Design Elements Throughout The Yard

The design of the yard is tied together with the gorgeous Boulevard Light travertine that continues beyond the pool area to the bbq and seating area. The Arctic River stacked stone on the bbq support pillar offers another elegant matching element of the design of the yard. Artificial turf offers a beautiful color contrast to the travertine and a large maintenance free area for recreation and relaxation. The aluminum shade structure offers a break from the sun and naturally blends into the environment matching the color scheme of the home.

The landscaping adds an element of serenity and privacy to this backyard paradise. The perimeter fence of the backyard is lined with ficus trees that not only add a beautiful natural touch but also create a barrier for privacy in the yard. The hopseed bush behind the pool adds an interior layer of landscape design along with a contrasting green to the ficus trees.
