Pool Designs: Laps in Paradise
Our Pool Designs series was created to help spark ideas of what might be a good fit for you in your backyard. When you’re starting the process of building a pool, there are numerous decisions to make. A great place to get started is with the pool design and design elements.
Whether it’s a freeform or geometric design, with modern, Tuscan, or retro design elements; it’s really about the look that fits your home.
At California Pools & Landscape, we’ve been creating custom pools in the valley of the sun for more than 36 years. We’ve designed thousands of geometric pools of all shapes and sizes, to meet the desires of every client.
About This Paradise Valley Home
This Paradise Valley homeowner was looking for a remodel of his pool and backyard. As a triathlete, being able to swim laps year round was of the highest importance. Creating a design that would relate to the architecture of the home was also a priority.
This stunning backyard features a linear pool design that is surrounded by almost 1,700 sq ft of artistic pavers. The spa with an attached fire pit offers another entertainment option for cool desert evenings with a stunning view of Camelback Mountain. Our design team worked hand in hand with the homeowner to bring their backyard vision to life.
A Geometric Pool & Spa
The 57-ft long geometric pool is the main star in this backyard centered in the middle of the arcadia doors that lead to the patio from the home. Four mature date palm trees add to the symmetry of the design and contribute to the resort vibe. The geometric spa with an attached fire pit adds an extra destination with an awe inspiring view of Camelback Mountain. The turf serves as a cost effective option for decking and also provides areas for relaxation and recreation.
The pools’ Arctic Sea Glass Pebble interior creates a vibrant blue color that looks very inviting. The Chartres tile is a 6-inch x 6-inch in seagreen that adds a unique pattern and a splash of color. The pool features an auto pool cover on the south end of the pool that is stylistically covered with an artistic paver lid. The cover helps hold heat in the pool for the cool winter months in the desert. The pool has pillars on either side with 16” Smooth Flow Scupper water features, that add an ambiance to the yard. The pillars are 48” x 24” with White Limestone stacked stone on all sides and Almond artistic paver caps.
The spa with the attached fire pit is a unique design that adds to the resort feel of the yard. The 10 ft x 14.5 ft feature is covered with White Limestone stacked stone on the perimeter and is capped off with an Almond artistic paver cap. The sit and spin spa is 9 ft x 8 ft and features the same design materials as the pool. The 18” fire pit is filled with Athena fire glass in Poseidon blue and adds a vibrant color pop along with an elegant ambiance.
Incorporating Pool Designs Resort Elements Throughout The Yard
The design of this resort style backyard is tied together by almost 1,700 sq ft of Almond artistic pavers. The decking provides a stunning look that relates to the architecture of the home and offers plenty of space for relaxing or entertaining. Creating a seamless environment within the design was important; the white limestone stacked stone paired with the almond artistic paver cap look is consistent on the water features, fire pit, spa and columns leading out from the home.
Almost 2,500 sq ft of artificial turf offers a beautiful color contrast to the artistic pavers and runs right up to the 8’ x 8’ artistic paver border. The turf creates a large maintenance free area for recreation and relaxation. The surrounding landscaping adds an element of serenity and privacy to this backyard paradise.
