Pool Point Of View – Mountainside Masterpiece

In our ‘Mountainside Masterpiece’ project, our design team created a stunning outdoor oasis with a hillside negative edge pool that features a one-of-a-kind view.

What’s Your Point Of View?

This residence sits on the north side of Camelback Mountain, with a stunning view of Paradise Valley. The architectural and engineering needs for this masterpiece mountainside pool were unique, given its’ awe inspiring location.

The mountainside pool and spa combo are the focal point of the design when looking out from the east end of the residence. There are several stunning design features in this project; a large water wall, raised shotcrete step pads, scupper spa spillways and the negative edge on the pool. The pool and spa sit below two levels of decking all featuring their own brilliant perspective. The natural toned colors and design materials selected blend into the desert environment. Landscaping adds an extra element of green with a combination of trees, shrubs and vines.

The star of this outdoor environment is the project’s modern design, nestled perfectly into the corner of Camelback Mountain. The straight lines on the pool and water wall tie into the modern design of the home, while the curves on the negative edge of the mountainside pool and circular spa tie into the natural environment of the project.

The pool features our Topaz Sea Glass Pebble with double abalone, which adds to the vibrance and sparkle of the pool. The Vision Moka waterline tile is also used on the outer surface of the spa and on the negative edge wall. There are three wide steps that enter the 9,390 gallon play pool that descend below the shotcrete step pads.

The pool’s deck features Simply Grey Porcelain Pavers that tie into the natural color of many of the surrounding rocks on the mountain. The mountainside pool and spa coping along with the step pads are also topped with the Simply Grey Porcelain Pavers. The sit and spin spa design offers a natural transition into the spa and doesn’t waste any interior space with entry steps. The 8ft x 8ft spa has three scupper spa spillways that add to the ambiance of the environment.
