The CPL Customer Experience

I previously gave California Pools a 5 Star Rating when our pool was finished the end of May. We have been enjoying it every day since. I honestly could not say enough good things about Matt W. and Sarese F. for all their involvement in our project. It is disappointing to read unflattering reviews, as that certainly was not our experience. Yesterday I contacted Sarese to tell her I needed a refresher with our pool remote. A young man by the name of Ryan was scheduled for the very next morning. He was wonderful! He took his time, explained it and worked with me until I really understood it. I was so appreciative of his patience. Our entire experience with California Pools was stellar. Matt, Sarese, Marc, Bianca and Ryan... thank you!

We are so glad we chose California Pools & Landscape! From beginning to end our experience was fantastic. We had received an estimate from one other well known pool builder who even though we told them our budget, still presented us with a plan/estimate $30k higher than that...what??? Our CA Pools designer & project manager, Tim, listened to our ideas & offered honest feedback & took the time to answer all of our questions in detail. His design was gorgeous and there was no need for us to make a single change so the work began. Excavation started July 5th and we were swimming in our pool on Labor Day weekend and that was even with a 2 1/2 week delay thanks to the AZ monsoons. Our superintendent, Sean, was very courteous and was diligent in keeping us well informed every step of the way. Leann, our scheduling manager, always kept us in the loop as to who was going to show up and when. Lori assisted us in picking out our color selections for tile, pavers, and gravel and she was extremely helpful...the colors look beautiful. The end result was incredible AND within our original budget. We are still in shock that this is actually our backyard! I would never hesitate to recommend California Pools and Landscape.

We are so close to swimming in our new pool! Jordan and Cody have been amazing to work with. Jordan, our project manager, is ultra responsive to texts and stops by to check the progress often. He is always available to answer questions and ensure we are on track. While the pool building business is no longer a six week sign to swim project, we are glad to have chosen Cal Pools to re-create our back yard. It's important to fully understand the process and realistic timelines in today's climate when choosing a pool builder. Cal Pools has made an otherwise frustrating experience easier and more exciting with their open lines of communication, app to track progress and amazing staff.

My husband and I recently downsized with our twins heading to college. We were looking for an outdoor space for the next chapter in our lives. I am so thankful we chose California Pools to create our dream backyard. We could not be happier with our experience. Dave took the time to meet us out at our house and walked us through each piece of his design. We received constant communication through the entire project. Thank you to Matt, Leann, Karl and Luis for keeping our project moving forward and answering all of our questions. I am grateful for the crews that worked through some extremely hot weather to make our design a reality. We would defiantly recommend California Pools to anyone looking for the ultimate backyard you will not regret it.

We did a full remodel on our house and backyard. After meeting with 5 pool companies, we went with California Pools & Landscaping. 1) They came in very competitive (we only met with the largest and longest standing companies. 2) They were able to handle our landscaping (complete tear down and build). 3) if pricing is comparable, I always prefer the larger companies- most of the time they have more resources and support (which is very important right now). We had a 3-month delay due to the concrete shortage. From talking to other contractors (my paver guy and GC), we were lucky to get our concrete, travertine and pebbletec. Because of CA Pools size, all steps of the construction process had full crews and were very efficient (scaling, dig, pour, laying travertine, installing artificial turf). My wife and I work from home, so having a crew show up at 6am, and gone my 10am/11am was HUGE. Marc Olsen (sales), John Utz (project mgr) and Sara Dougan (scheduler) walked us through the process and addressed any questions/issues. Why is this important? Building a pool is not very common (you might build 1, maybe 2 in your lifetime.....this was my 2nd pool with CA Pools and I was still clueless). Our pool was completed Labor Day weekend, CA Pools has followed ip and addressed our questions immediately. (I called John about checking out our pump, a serviceman showed up the next day) Building a pool is an expensive and long process. A lot can happen over the 4-6 month build time (supply issues, labor shortage, etc). I strongly recommend going with the larger pool companies and definitely get a bid from CA Pools.

Cal Pools did an awesome design, and installation. Cathy Vern has been great when I have had warranty repairs. I definitely recommend Cal Pools.

Our experience with California pools has been an extremely positive experience. Our pool and waterfall is absolutely beautiful. The layout and design is a view from our windows I enjoy seeing throughout my day. We enjoy our evening hours sitting with the pool lights on with the sound of the waterfall. My zen space for sure. Most importantly has been the Warranty department. Shelley has answered all my questions with such satisfactory, caring response with follow up in a timely manner. Everything I expect! California Pools was amazing even during the stressful time of building a pool during a global pandemic. Brian Magrath was our Project Manager and he was outstanding. Brian's design was very unique and was something my wife and I would have never thought of. He put it together and WOW, The project came out beyond any of our expectations and gets complements from anyone who sees it.Brian kept us informed during the several delays that occurred due to supplies and trades having problems with COVID. I will admit this was frustrating during the process, but Brian and the entire team did everything they could to get this done and they were great.This is the second pool I've had completed by California Pools and they are the best. Well worth the money. I would highly recommend.

We have been completely happy & satisfied with our pool since it was constructed by California Pools at our home in Sun Lakes, AZ back in the summer of 2013. Anytime we are in need of any type of service or even to have any questions or concerns addressed, the friendly, knowledgeable & personal staff at California Pools is always at the ready to help us out & to maintain an excellent company/customer level of satisfaction. Jeremy Smith has a lot to be proud of with his company & we recommend their products & service to anyone in the need of purchasing and/or maintaining their pool in top-notch condition at all times. We recently needed a pool light replaced & they did their absolute best to make certain that when all was said & done we were happy & satisfied customers. The staff (Bianca & Chelle) did their very best right from our first phone call to ensure that our needs were met in both a friendly & professional manner. The repair work was performed by trained professionals who were both punctual & precise in their work. We tip our hats to Bianca (& Chelle) for taking the initiative right from the start right through to completion of the job to make certain that we were 100% satisfied with all aspects of their work......and, of course, we were all of that & then some! It's truly a pleasure to find a company & employees who strive their utmost to provide continuous help & support with their products & personnel long after the sale is complete. We had gone thru multiple companies to get a quote and it was so frustrating that none of them could get our vision right. We kept explaining that we wanted modern, simple, etc. and they kept giving us these outrageous designs, tripling our budget. California pools, Ryan and Duane specifically listened, created a design that we LOVED and followed through with the construction process. The communication with california pool was top tier. The overall pool & equipment was done so well. It was such a great experience and we are SO happy with our entire backyard now.

The best of the best pool companies in Arizona!

I'm pretty disappointed that Yelp would move my original review of California Pools to the non-recommended review section. My original review may have seemed to good to be true, but in fact was legitimate. So that motivated me to write this update after one year of owning our pool. To begin with my pool is a geometric 35ft x 16ft pool with scalloped corners and an automatic pool cover. We also installed a 20 ft long water feature on one side which includes two tuscany water woks at the end and a mosaic tiled center piece which has water running out of it as well. We also installed a horseshoe shaped 16ft spa on the opposite side of the pool. The automatic cover has proved to be problematic. We've had two major incidences with it. The first incident when closing the cover one evening was one of the pulley ropes broke and as a result the cover tore on the opposite side. The second issue with the cover was a switch which was installed by Coverstar to prevent the water feature from coming on and flooding the pool cover failed. The result was the pool water flooded the cover but the worst part was that the water on top of the cover had no way to get back into the pool and eventually drained the pool to the point that the track holding the cover in place couldn't hold the weight of the water and broke off. In fairness Coverstar was quick to come out and cover this under warranty. After all this and other little problems my overall experience with Cal Pools is that they back up their product and do whatever it takes to make you happy. There top Tech Jesse has really been there for us and I thought I'd share that with other Yelp readers. Still a happy customer and our family is thoroughly enjoying our Pool/Spa.

We used Cal pools to build our new pool, fire pit, and built-in BBQ. Our sales guy (Marc Olsen) was excellent, and the project coordinator Sarese was hyper-responsive to everything. We love our new pool, and would definitely recommend Cal Pools to others.

I had my pool installed by California Pools a few months ago. And we just love it. We had some minor issues at first, but Travis, Marcee and Jeanie stayed right on top of it to make sure everything ran smoothly. My pool came out better then I thought it would. They are true Professionals and are committed to their purpose. Without hesitation, I would highly recommend California Pools to my Family, Friends and Neighbors. ARW Fountain Hills, AZ.

California Pools & Landscaping just finishes my pool along with decking and artificial turf for the pups. It looks awesome and the team of Sara, Dave and Sean were great to work with. Dave had my backyard vision come to life, Sara keep me informed on scheduling with the great app and always answered my questions quickly. Finally Sean made sure everything was completed to my satisfaction. The pool and yard are perfect.

Brian Fox and the whole team at CPL are fantastic. Brian was very creative in designing our entire backyard environment. We had so much fun each time we met with him in the design phase and other associates that helped us along the way. When we had issues/changes during the process; they were addressed very quickly. Everyone was very responsive, professional and friendly. I would highly recommend CPL to anyone looking to build a unique, personalized pool.

I would highly recommend California Pools to anyone looking for great service and an excellent pool! Matt Sauer is so helpful and has built two pools for my real estate clients and many of my friends, he is very knowledgeable and a joy to work with, always gets back to me when I have any questions!

So far, so good! We recently began the process of building our backyard with California Pools & Landscape. From the 1st meeting our experience has been wonderful. Marc Olsen has been very accommodating to our needs! He has been patient with any changes we have made and has designed us a beautiful backyard. We are very excited for our project!

I just received a call from josh H. He was extremely informative about the process and really made me feel like he was looking out for me and listened to what I actually wanted. Very kind, I am not ready to pull the trigger yet, I am leaning towards 2024/25. But when I do I am excited to work with him! Exceptional!

We decided to trust in California Pools for our backyard project and wow they did not disappoint. The fantastic experience started off with our swinger Matt Sauer helping us create our dream. Matt's experience kept us from making some major design flaws all while keeping us to our budget. Our project was then turned over to Darrin Castillo who was our construction manager. Our project was completed by the targeted deadline due to Darrin's professionalism. The company is customer oriented and holds its contractors to the same standards. Thank you Cal Pools!

We love our new pool. They worked with our budget & it turned out great

From day one with meeting with Aaron in The Scottsdale office, we told him a few things we wanted in our back yard. When we returned to see what he had drawn up for us, it nearly brought me to tears as it was exactly what we had imagined. Through the whole process, Pete Barrera our superintendent was amazing, so very helpful. We also worked with Sarese Stearman she scheduled all of our work, she was amazing. She was so good at keeping us updated as to what was happpening to our pool/landscaping. We would highly recommend this team to anyone looking for a gorgeous backyard.

We are in the midst of our pool remodel with CA pools, so will give an update upon finishing, but I am so impressed so far I want to give a review. My husband & I own a home remodeling company, so we can more easily recognize and pick out a good and well-run company. I was impressed with how well they have developed their procedures for customer care and their systems and follow up. They are responsive to communications, with a very caring/no pressure sales that laid out options and guided us with selections. It's obvious they are continually improving, that they have good onboarding and training of their staff. Our salesperson continues to check in and respond to questions even after the contract has been signed which is above and beyond to make sure we are having a good experience. They were very careful to check out our pool, for we suspected it was leaking, and they showed us where the problems are. Even though our pool was originally installed around 1980, I believe it will be just as good as new. Stay tuned!

I will update this post in the future with a much longer review of my entire process with California Pools but I wanted to recognize Damian Klymko and Sara Dougan have made the entire process super seamless. If you are looking to get your backyard and pool designed ask for Damian! He did an amazing Job and if you move forward make sure you get Sara on your team. Her communication and willingness to get things moving forward is what made us use California Pools for entire backyard project. Really solid group of people at CA Pools. Also as an FYI pricing is really fair especially compared to other companies we talked to.

I am one that rarely gives reviews because of their subjective nature but in this case as a business owner who understands the value of those reviews, I just had to give one and 5 stars it is. From the competent staff to communication up front and throughout the process, was remarkable given the large project at hand. The results are even better than the design and I could not be any more elated. I also will say that as we compared pricing before committing, my advice would be that you can't put value or quality in a "low dollar amount" as the final product and experience holds that for us. Absolutely must recommend California Pools!

Todd Stewart was our construction manager/everything pool guy!! His customer service and expertise, and knowledge is exceptional! We had questions during and after our build and he always responded promptly and willing to assist regardless if it was after hours. Todd is a true asset to California pools and we are thankful that we had him as our "guy".

Our family could not speak more highly of our experience with California Pools, who built our pool in fall of 2023. A pool was a significant investment for our family, and selecting the right company to make this investment with was very important to us. We got quotes from many companies and put a lot of research into our decision. Now that our pool is done, we feel hands down like we could not possibly have had a better experience than we did with California. Each step of the way, we were assigned thoughtful employees who always made us feel heard. As first time pool builders we had a lot of questions through every stage and not a single person ever made us feel like a bother. Our sales and design person Dave provided information, first hand experience, ideas and patience as we moved through the contract and design processes. Every crew that came to our house treated it with respect and we were very impressed with all of their craftsmanship. Marissa made scheduling a breeze and was so communicative about each step of the pool building process that would be happening. Last but not least, we couldn't speak more highly of our superintendent Nathan. He was incredibly hands on, professional and communicative. The number of times he checked on our job site personally and talked with us about next steps, answered questions, etc. went above and beyond what we would have expected and eased the entire process for us. We couldn't be happier with our pool, which was finished weeks ahead of schedule, and all the amazing people we got to work with along the way to make it a reality.
